Ilker is presenting his session, streaming live from the University of Maryland, during the 24 hour Artificial (Un)Intelligence Conference.
Session Description
Work as we know it is at a breaking point. Many professionals feel overworked, stretched thin, and caught in a system that demands more than it gives. AI presents a choice. You can resist AI and risk falling behind, like using paper while everyone else types on a computer, holding onto a flip phone while the world moves to iPhones, or working twice as hard while others are benefiting from more freedom, flexibility, and time to enjoy life. Or you can embrace it, take back control of your time, and create a future where you work smarter and live better.
In this session, we will challenge common fears about AI and reframe it as a tool for empowerment. AI enhances productivity, restores autonomy, and serves as an unexpected form of self-care. Through my own journey, I will share how AI helped me navigate unemployment, reclaim my time, and reshape my career. AI is not just about efficiency. It is about liberation from burnout and outdated work models.
Talking Point
Addressing concerns about job loss, ethics, and AI’s role in the future of work
AI as self-care by reducing overwhelm, regaining control of time, and focusing on what truly matters
The workforce shift that is increasing autonomy, reshaping work expectations, and making adaptability the new competitive edge
The ethics of AI adoption by understanding when AI enhances our capabilities versus when it becomes a crutch
