Session Description for Civil Rights to Cultural Rights

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming our world, but who builds it—and how—determines its impact on society. This talk highlights the role of Black technologists, entrepreneurs, and researchers in shaping AI to be more fair, inclusive, and just.

Drawing connections between past civil rights movements and today’s fight for digital equity, this keynote explores how Black innovators are pushing back against algorithmic bias and working to prevent AI from reinforcing systemic inequalities.

Attendees will gain insight into why representation in AI development matters and how diverse leadership in tech is key to ensuring AI benefits everyone, not just a privileged few.
